Rambling: Day 58
Just woke up. This is the third night in a row I've had a dream where Ursa is the Firelord. Now, I can't get the idea out of my head.

The dream itself is like walking in on the last few minutes of a movie.  She was at her coronation.  The only person there I can recognize was Shyu, the Fire Sage from Avatar Roku.  FYI: Shyu is the grandson of the Kaja, the Fire Sage who trained Roku to help him master the Avatar State, and Ursa's Roku's granddaughter. So it was neat that he was the one crowning her in my dream.

As an aside, I really love that guy. I have such a fondness for noble characters like Shyu and Haru and Yue and all the sweethearts who try to do the right thing. I just want to give them all a big snuggly hug.

But anyway...

I guess it could be a total AU where, instead of killing Azulon, she could challenge him to an Agni Kai for Zuko's life.  Not really into AUs, actually, but just think how different things would have been if she had challenged him and won. I don't know. Is she even a Firebender?  I thought there was an interview floating around that said she wasn't. But, I don't know.... I've always played around with the idea that she was an insanely skilled Firebender who, as a condition of marrying into the royal family, couldn't firebend because she'd make Ozai and Iroh look bad. *lol* That, in fact, Azula got her prodigal skills from Ursa, but everyone kept saying she got her talent from Azulon because they liked to stroke his ego so they could score some suck up points with the Firelord.

Then I was just goofing around with the idea of Piandao being her advisor and thought it would be funny if she actually put the moves on him. <3

I have built an elaborate history for them based on a story I was working on two and a half years ago. He took her into his care after she was banished and taught her the way of the sword.  She spent the last five years practicing her Firebending-working with masters like Jeong Jeong and old man Kuzon (whom everyone thinks is dead)-and perfecting her swordsmanship with Piandao as well as great swordsmen and women in the Earth Kingdom. Plus, she has discipline and the wisdom she's gained from hanging out with all the great masters. She and Piandao travel the world together and she sees what the war has done to it so she gains perspective (not unlike Zuko's Book 2 journey through the Earth Kingdom). After five years, she has the skills and experience to take Ozai on herself when the comet arrives.  When she finally takes over, Piandao is the only person she trusts.

As an aside, I thought about putting Iroh there but then I remembered that he's lazy and would never give up his teashop to, you know, be useful.  Plus, I can't ship Iroh with Ursa, and I can't see them being friends after he sat there and let Ozai burn Zuko. So I envision a scenario where she is glad that Iroh is in Ba Sing Se, far away from the Fire Nation, because she would be disgusted with him.

So there's Piandao and maybe Jeong Jeong.  Yes, definitely Jeong Jeong!  He and Piandao can tag team everybody and make them uncomfortable.  If Jeong Jeong isn't screaming at you, Piandao's blackmailing you.  It would be epic.  Also, throw in Jee, because I love that dude, and Shyu could stick around and be her spiritual advisor. I'm just making this up as I go along.

I really just love the idea of Ursa taking charge of her situation.  She isn't willing to live in the shadows, cowering in exile, especially after Ozai burns Zuko.  She makes it her personal mission to bring him down and take control of the Fire Nation.  The idea of her hunting him down, killing him with a sword made of fire, and putting Azula in a cage amuses me so much.  You have no idea...  It's mean, I know, but past them being the scary video game bosses of the Avatar world, I couldn't be paid to care about Ozai or Azula.  Although, I can't see Ursa harming Azula.  Could just have her strip Azula of her power and keep her in the nuthouse indefinitely (which would be appropriate).

Iroh's lazy ass is in Ba Sing Se but I have no idea where Zuko fits into all of this.  I'm not even sure I care if Zuko fits into this.  /is mean/ >:D  Maybe I'll just have him abdicate.  Yeah, that works.

I think we were seperated at birth, because I was on the edge of the same idea (Piandao & Ursa and learning the way of the sword and everything) before I just left the fanfic at that point and quit! XD

Only... it might have been two years instead of your five, since people would come asking around about her, and she never really perfected it, though it was good for non-bending defense in places such as Ba Sing Se.

I'm also fond of the idea that Fat doesn't really like her. ;D

I'm curious. May I read whatever you have of this story even if it's just notes?

My thinking was that Piandao had a feeling that people sent by the Firelord were watching his place so Ursa was pretty much confined to the property. He was always afraid, if Ozai found out she was there, he'd send the army to burn the whole town down. After a little while, I thought Piandao would either leave with Ursa to accompany her to another safe house or they'd hang out somewhere else and just lay low, or he'd send her to friends who lived in the area of farmland between the outer and inner walls of Ba Sing Se (since no one would think to look for her there). But I never quite worked it out in my head.

I always thought that Fat and Ursa would become great friends. I always portray him as a guy who seems like he hates everyone, but he softens up around the edges once he gets to know people. He's never truly "friendly", just agreeable.

*Nod* I think I told you about this a couple of years ago? It's on Fanfiction.Net now, the first 15 chapters:

Clickplz

The first few chapters are horrid, in my opinion. DX But I'll let you be the judge. =)

*Nod* At first, Ursa has to keep hidden there or otherwise explore the town in disguise. At the end, though, the powers that be start to get more suspicious and that's when the army visits his castle (yeah, I need to rewrite some of the plot lol), Fat helps Ursa escape and the initial plan was for them to find her later and take her to a mutual friend, but she gets lost and sidetracked for a while.

That's good, too. I can imagine Fat being that way. I think my Ursa and my Fat would get along quite well, but she's training alongside another kid and he and Ursa... are both a very bad influence on each other. XD Me and my friend even joke that the pair would investigate the possibility that Fat and Piandao were gay for each other if the oppurtunity presented itself.

My art skills are not very impressive. Also, I never really had a working scenario I could draw or write out. I never had a situation plotted out in my head, just a feeling of how Piandao and Jeong Jeong would operate together to keep order and take care of business.
